In today's market, employers typically pay only part of the group
health insurance premium versus in the past when 100% employer-paid
benefits were more common. To offset this cost to employees, Section
125 was passed by Congress.
Section 125 allows an employee to pay their costs for certain benefits
on a pre-tax basis. The employee's net cost for group insurance and
other benefits can be reduced significantly.
Employers also profit. For every dollar of pre-tax premium the employee
pays, the employer saves the cost of FICA and Workers Compensation
on that same dollar. These savings can be used to increase the employer's
bottom line and/or to add additional employee benefits at little or
no net cost to the employer. Reduced
fee medical & dental programs can be quite valuable to employers
who cannot afford to offer health insurance. At $6.95 to $69.95 per
month, these programs allow employees to save up to 50% on doctors,
hospitals, prescriptions, dental, vision care and chiropractors. Plans
are also available to temporary and part-time employees.
For employers who have health insurance but cannot afford to enrich
their benefit plans with dental insurance, the dental or dental plus
programs are great voluntary products to offer.
If you just wish to add dental to your group, the CAREington
Discount Dental Insurance Alternative is a very affordable option.
The cost is only $5.95 for individuals and $12.95 for families.
